Hanson Commission Validates Wetland Line at Town-Owned Industrial Parcel

HANSON — May 21, 2025 — Hanson Conservation Commission approves wetland delineation for town-owned parcel eyed for potential development. The commission voted 4-1 Wednesday to validate a bordering vegetated wetland boundary at 0 West Washington Street, a commercially zoned lot the town is studying for possible economic development using just under $99,000 in MassDevelopment OneStop grant funds. Consultant Bridget Hilgenorth of BHB presented aerial imagery showing a forested wetland running across the eastern and southeastern portions of the parcel, with 50-foot and 100-foot buffer zones that would sharply limit buildable area near abutting residential properties. Commission Chair Thomas F. said he had personally inspected the delineation flags and found the line properly drawn. Abutter Jerry Clinton of 101 West Washington Street raised concerns about potential construction impacts but was told no development plan exists and that any future proposal would require additional hearings before the Select Board and town boards. The commission also approved an amended order of conditions for a tight tank installation at 1101 Main Street, conditioned on erosion controls and pending ZBA and Board of Health sign-off, and continued a hearing for a project at 1282 Main Street to June 4.
