HANSON — The Hanson Conservation Commission continued hearings on a large Washington Street housing project and a Lakeside Road home rebuild after residents raised septic and runoff concerns. Engineer Joe Webby told the board his team shifted the 808 West Washington Street development 30 feet from the river, cutting riverfront disturbance to under 1 percent, but no septic plan exists until the Zoning Board of Appeals rules October 19. Resident David Dean said he doubted "50 septic systems that close to a wetland with a high, very, very high water table" could work.
The board, voting 4-0-1 on unrelated minutes, continued the Washington Street hearing to November 4 and a Lakeside Road hearing to October 21. Commissioners also closed two old permits, including the Hanson Fire Station septic order, and reported Town Meeting approved $20,000 for the conservation fund and $7,500 for Wampatuck Pond fanwort treatment, the latter on hold pending a deal with cranberry growers.
