HANSON -- July 1, 2026, Hanson Conservation Commission reorganizes, approves wetland permits, and flags unpermitted access road. The commission elected Thomas F. Roofy as chair on a 3-0 vote with one abstention at its July 1 meeting, with Edward Mansfield elected vice chair. Members approved an Order of Conditions for a garage project at 372 Whitman Street for the Winberg family, accepting an in-lieu mitigation payment calculated using a prior formula, described informally as producing roughly $700 to $800, in lieu of on-site planting in the 50-foot buffer zone. The commission also approved a Negative 3 Determination of Applicability 3-0-1 for tree removal at 430 Brook Bend Road, where property owner Jill Taco is seeking to remove approximately 17 trees ranging from 30 to 50 feet in height that are leaning on or toward the house. Members voted 3-0-1 to accept the deed for the Hubble conservation parcel, with closing scheduled for July 15, while acknowledging that the approved Town Meeting funding may fall short of covering a required conservation restriction and survey. On an enforcement matter at 72 Tavern Way, where a consultant confirmed that a newly constructed access road sits within the 50-foot wetland buffer, the commission agreed to await a response from the property owner before issuing an enforcement order, noting it retains the ability to block a certificate of occupancy.
