Hanson Swears In Two Lieutenants, Sergeant, and Officer at Police Ceremony

HANSON — September 23, 2025 — Hanson Select Board swears in two lieutenants, a sergeant, and a new officer during a police promotion ceremony on September 23. Chief Mike Casey presided over the swearings-in of Peter Daley as Lieutenant of Operations and Alicia Duran as Lieutenant of Administration, Robert Mansfield as sergeant, and lateral-transfer officer Luke Whalen, all effective September 15. The board also presented above-and-beyond awards to Officers Benjamin Ford, Kyle Cromby, and Derek Harrington for performing CPR on a cardiac-arrest victim on September 2, keeping the patient alive until fire personnel arrived. Back at Town Hall, members voted unanimously to dissolve the town's stormwater management committee effective January 1, 2026, and accepted the resignation of John Murray from the Energy Committee, leaving that body with two of five seats filled. The meeting's sharpest moment came when board members disclosed they had learned through a South Shore News social media post that the Hanson-Whitman school district had drawn down roughly $1.14 million from a savings account that once held approximately $2 million, leaving fewer than $248,000 in reserve heading into the October 6 special town meeting.
