Select Board · Meeting of September 15, 2026

Hanson Select Board finalizes 32-article fall warrant, delays vote on Flock cameras. Meeting with only three of five members present, the board voted unanimously to place articles including $160,000 for two police cruisers, $175,000 for town server infrastructure, $96,800 for a highway utility truck and $190,000 in Community Preservation funds for a new playground ahead of the October 5 Special Town Meeting. Police Chief Michael Casey briefed the board on a public forum where roughly 50 residents raised data-privacy concerns about the town's Flock Safety license-plate cameras, saying "if we all feel that the majority of the individuals in this town do not want this camera, then I'm here for them." No vote was taken on the cameras.

State Rep. Ken Sweezy briefed the board on local aid, calling municipal finance "a bear right now... across the entire Commonwealth." The board also deferred a recommendation on a tax-title interest-waiver article pending more data from the treasurer's office, with free cash certified this week at $2.168 million.
