Hanson Select Board advances zoning fixes and preps a packed October 5 special town meeting warrant. Director of Land Use Tony DeFriis won unanimous approval to send a state-mandated clean energy siting bylaw and an accessory dwelling unit cleanup to a September 14 planning board hearing. Highway Director Richard Jasmine pitched a $96,800 utility truck and a $55,000 asphalt hot box, both replacing equipment he called "at end of life." IT Director Matt Tocchio requested $175,000 for server replacement, prompting questions about recurring costs.
Town Accountant Eric Kinscher pegged available free cash near $2 million after fiscal 2027 already drew $1.9 million. The board also voted unanimously to discharge a decades-old mortgage at 533 Main Street, appointed Carol Jensen, George Copeland and Kurt Tarvis to town committees, and signed off on a three-year Camp Kiwanis bartending contract paying the town 40 percent of gross sales.
