Select Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026

HANSON — The Hanson Select Board kept a uniform property tax rate for fiscal 2027 and rejected both a residential and small commercial exemption. Town Assessor Denise Alexander said a 25 percent split-rate shift would raise the average commercial-industrial tax bill from $10,427 to $13,034, prompting the board to stick with Hanson's historical uniform-rate approach. The board separately finalized a land swap clearing an 8.5-acre Old Pine Drive parcel for a new municipal wellhead, calling it a source that could "serve us for generations to come." Town Planner Tony DeFries reported $331,180 in new state grant funding for Main Street sidewalks, a Mass Development site study, and a Streetscape Project.

The board appointed officers Ryan Valancourt full-time and David Hyslip part-time, and spent 45 minutes reviewing, without voting on, the police department's Flock camera policies amid resident and board concerns over data use.
