Hanson Select Board Promotes Three Officers in Historic Rank Expansion
HANSON — September 9, 2025 — Hanson Select Board unanimously promotes two police sergeants to lieutenant and one officer to sergeant, the department's first rank expansion in over 30 years. Police Chief Casey told the board Tuesday that Sergeants Alicia Duran, an 18-year veteran and sexual investigator unit supervisor, and Peter Daly, a 24-year Hanson officer and 11-year sergeant, topped an independent Lieutenant Assessment Center evaluation in August and will be promoted effective September 15. Officer Robert Mansfield was simultaneously elevated to sergeant after finishing first on an eligible list from last year's assessment center; lateral transfer Luke Whan, formerly of Plymouth, was also conditionally hired as a patrol officer. A swearing-in ceremony for all four is set for September 23 at Camp Kowani. The board also reopened and reclosed the October 6 special town meeting warrant to add four articles, including a $2,000 Board of Health advertising budget supplement driven by the closure of the Whitman-Hanson Express, which has pushed legal notice costs from roughly $100 to $300 per posting.
