Hanson Conservation Commission Continues Union Park Street Driveway Hearing Pending DEP Review

HANSON -- March 4, 2026, Hanson Conservation Commission continues driveway permit for vacant Union Park Street lot, cites missing DEP number. The three-member quorum voted unanimously Wednesday to push the Notice of Intent filed by Edward Johnson to March 18, after the commission confirmed it had not yet received a state Department of Environmental Protection file number required before final approval. Engineer Joe Webby of Webby Engineering presented a plan to install a driveway, utilities, and private water service at Zero Union Park Street, with all work proposed outside the 50-foot inner buffer of a delineated intermittent stream. The commission also discussed a road-widening component that would expand the adjacent gravel lane from roughly nine feet to 16 to 18 feet, a change the town Department of Public Works had already endorsed. Separately, the commission unanimously approved an order of conditions and closed the hearing for a project at 166 Pine Grove Avenue, which the DEP reviewed without comment. In enforcement news, commission members reported documenting 24 cut trees at an Industrial Boulevard site, the largest measured at 30 inches in diameter, with the responsible parties due before the commission the following Tuesday at 4 p.m.
