Hanson Conservation Commission Approves Three Permits at Brief March Meeting

HANSON — March 18, 2026 — Hanson Conservation Commission unanimously approved three permits and heard updates on a stalled land purchase at its March 18 meeting. Sitting with a three-member quorum, Chair T.J. Rofey and Commissioners Frank Skellinger and Dave Heal voted 3-0 on each of three items: a notice of intent for Zero Union Park Street filed by Webby Engineering, a 29-year-old certificate of compliance for 502 Liberty Street needed to close a property sale, and a minor modification to the Water Department's Old Pine Drive well order of conditions based on language in a March 12 letter from CDM Smith allowing refueling of test equipment within the buffer zone. The board also learned that the Select Board had not yet signed a purchase-and-sale agreement for the Hubble conservation parcel because town counsel raised questions about easements; Rofey said the commission should not "waste an opportunity to protect property that would benefit from being protected over a utility easement." A citizen's petition warrant article submitted by resident Joe Campbell, which would place an approximately 18-acre town-owned former cranberry bog at Map 2, Lot 4-3 under conservation care, is headed to town meeting.
