Hanson Conservation Commission Continues Two Wetland Buffer Hearings to April 15

HANSON — April 1, 2026 — Hanson Conservation Commission continues two wetland buffer hearings after applicant absence and missing state filing number. The three-member commission, chaired by Thomas Rofe Jr., voted 3-0 at its April 1 meeting to continue a hearing on an amendment to an existing order of conditions at 387 Woodbine Ave., where owner David Winter built a shed without a permit approximately 14 feet from an intermittent stream in a fully buffered lot; neither Winter nor his engineer attended. Conservation Agent Frank Skellinger told the board, "I really think you should require some mitigation to the buffer, even though it's after the fact." The commission also voted 3-0 to continue a notice of intent for 99 Ocean Ave. — a proposal to replace a one-story dwelling with a two-story structure on the same footprint — after Skellinger confirmed DEP had not yet issued a file number, without which no approval can be granted. Both hearings are continued to April 15. Separately, Skellinger reported that a neighbor's fence encroaches roughly 15 feet onto the Thomas Middle conservation restriction parcel, blocking its recording, and flagged the MBTA's unresolved plan to spray the railroad corridor between May and July despite an outstanding commission determination requiring a field delineation.
