Hanson Conservation Commission Approves $941 Trail Brochure Order, Advances Dock Bylaw

HANSON — June 18, 2025 — Hanson Conservation Commission votes $941 toward trail brochures and advances dock-licensing bylaw. The commission, at its June 18 meeting, authorized roughly $941.31 as its share of an overage on a South Shore Chamber of Commerce-funded trail brochure project covering 11 Hanson walking trails, which will also produce QR-code trail-head signs and at least one banner; the full project cost is $3,941.31. Members also heard that a draft dock-licensing bylaw, developed with the harbormaster, is ready for submission to the Select Board's bylaw committee — a measure intended to let residents obtain dock permits in town rather than endure a state process one member described as taking six months. Two open hearings, for a property identified as Kolis and for 1282 Main Street, were continued to July 2. The commission voted to submit a Bonnie Hill Trail Japanese knotweed removal invoice to the Community Preservation Committee, and trail volunteers are targeting July 11 for work sessions at the Smith/Alaszelki conservation area, where National Grid vegetation management may also open new equipment access this summer.
