Hanson Conservation Commission Approves Commercial Development, Continues Culvert Hearing

HANSON — July 16, 2025 — Hanson Conservation Commission approves two residential water-access projects and a large commercial development while sending a contested culvert replacement back for more review. At the July 16 meeting, the commission voted unanimously to grant variances and negative-3 determinations for a staircase-and-wall reconstruction at 279 Lakeside Road for Nicholas Ravino and an above-ground pool installation at 23 Corin Drive for Abigail Wise Caruso. The commission also voted 5-0 to approve an order of conditions for eight new contractor-bay warehouse buildings at 1282 Main Street, a project that includes roughly 681 square feet of wetland fill with 1.5-to-1 replication and a proposed donation of just over 31 acres of wellfield-adjacent land to the town. The town-funded Pratt Place culvert replacement — approved for funding by the Select Board in February 2024 — was continued to August 6 after commission member Frank Skellinger cited the absence of a DEP file number, unresolved Massachusetts DOT and Army Corps reviews, and a disputed emergency-repair designation that the commission said "has no planet on which" it applies.
