Hanson Select Board Votes to Buy 45 Acres From Hubble for $117,500

HANSON — July 7, 2026 — Hanson Select Board approves $117,500 Hubble land purchase and hires three highway workers. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to buy approximately 45 acres on Hawks Avenue from Hubble Distribution, Inc. for conservation land to be held by the Hanson Conservation Commission, closing a deal more than two and a half years in the making under a Special Town Meeting vote from October 2024; closing is set for July 15. The board also appointed two skilled laborers — Daniel Rogers and Christopher O'Brien, each starting at $24.72 per hour — and heavy equipment operator John Peron at $26.58 per hour, all effective July 20. In a separate reversal, the board reconsider and declined to exercise its right of first refusal on an affordable condo at 902 Main Street, after realtor and Dunham Farms trustee Bob Germaine assured members the unit would remain priced as a 40B affordable at roughly $270,000. The board deferred a vote on whether to file a waiver with the Cannabis Control Commission to opt out of the newly permitted statewide marijuana delivery, pending answers on local tax options and waiver revocability from Town Planner Tony DeFryas, who is scheduled to return July 21.
