Hanson Select Board Reorganizes, Ratifies IT Director at $149,000

HANSON — May 20, 2025 — Hanson Select Board reorganizes after town election, hires IT director at $149,000. The board unanimously elected Laura Hanna as chair at its May 20 post-election reorganization meeting, then ratified a three-year contract for a new IT director starting June 2 at $149,000, rising to $156,543 in year three through 2.5 percent annual increases. The board also voted to support a $70,000 One Stop for Growth site readiness grant for town-owned land at 212 Industrial Boulevard, with Town Administrator Lisa Green noting any future sale or lease would require a public RFP process and could trigger repayment of the grant. Hanna devoted significant time to a debrief on a mid-May E. coli boil-water alert from Abington Rockland Joint Waterworks that affected 105 Hanson households, criticizing fragmented communications and urging residents to register for Code Red alerts, saying the confusion came down to a simple test: "Do you pay your bill to the town of Hansen Water? You are not affected." Department heads met the same day to begin identifying cuts required by July 1 following the failure of a recent override vote.
