Board of Health · Meeting of September 15, 2026
Hanson's Board of Health adopted a rule requiring well testing whenever a Title 5 septic inspection is performed, closing an enforcement gap. Health Agent Gilbert Amado told the board, "It says in our well regulations, at time of transfer, the well has to be tested. But nobody's testing them." The board also voted unanimously to join a 15-town South Shore Recycling consortium building a Household Hazardous Waste Depot in Hanover, committing up to $1,200 in matching funds under a 2023 grant letter, with the site expected to open "probably six times a year." Members separately authorized the town's IT department to bring an October Town Meeting warrant article for transfer-station security cameras, citing past falls and conflicts with staff, and approved septic and well permits for 144 Union Street and 72 Tavern Way.
