Hanson Planning Board releases five Metobrook Farm lots, sets $74,931 bond
HANSON — September 22, 2025 — Hanson Planning Board releases five lots in Metobrook Farm subdivision after accepting a $74,931.57 peer-reviewed bond. The board voted 4-0 Monday to accept the bond amount, calculated by engineering consultant Verdantis with a 15 percent contingency, then voted 4-0 to release lots 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7 to developer Ellis Builders and Development Corporation, contingent on the bond account being fully funded. Board Chair Paul Cogliani cited the developer's compliance record — including timely stormwater inspection reports — as justification for releasing a fifth lot beyond the four initially discussed, while noting that the retained lot 3, a 15-acre parcel, gives the town continued leverage. Town Planner Tony Carreira also briefed the board on a roughly $339,000 brownfields grant-funded remediation effort at the town-owned 100 Hawk Avenue property, where three areas of soil contamination near a former Light Control manufacturing building are being addressed, with the largest area slated for excavation and clean-fill replacement as early as this month.
