Hanson Planning Board Votes to Withhold Payment Until Design Files Are Delivered

HANSON — March 9, 2026 — Hanson Planning Board continues High Street Park hearing, disputes $18,000 design invoice. The three-member board voted 3-0 at its March 9 meeting to direct Town Planner Tony Ambrose to withhold payment on an $18,000 invoice from the park's design firm until all AutoCAD electronic drawings are delivered to the town, and separately voted 3-0 to continue the High Street Park public hearing to April 13. The board also voted 3-0 to recommend the Zoning Board of Appeals take no permit action at 123 Liberty Street — where a tenant is seeking a tow yard special permit — until outstanding code violations against the property owner are resolved, citing concerns about environmental liability from leaking vehicles, a residential neighborhood abutting the site, and the property's proximity to the Hanson Middle School access road. Ambrose reported a $38,776 DEP grant for Town Hall EV charging stations, an ARPA-funded culvert replacement going to bid March 23, and a highway garage project budgeted at no more than $7 million under a proposed debt exclusion.
