Hanson Planning Board Reorganizes, Continues Three Public Hearings at June Meeting

HANSON — June 23, 2025 — Hanson Planning Board reorganized unanimously and advanced a busy summer agenda at its June 23 meeting. The board re-elected Joseph Campbell as chair and named Kevin Cohen vice chair and newly elected Justin Robinson as clerk, all by 5-0 votes. Town Planner Anthony DeFeo reported that the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan received conditional approval from the state Department of Conservation and Recreation with fewer than a dozen minor comments, and that he filed six One Stop for Growth grant applications totaling $877,500, including $470,000 for work at 228 High Street and $197,000 for Main Street pedestrian improvements. The board approved four invoices including a $55,000 payment for subsurface utility engineering borings on McCoan Street, set to begin the following morning on a 16-inch cast-iron water main dating to 1885. Public hearings on the Meadow Brook Farm subdivision street-light waiver and the 40R/40Y Smart Growth overlay district were both continued to July 14, while Main Street pedestrian improvements and the High Street Park Committee hearing were pushed to August 11; DeFeo noted the town remains in state zoning compliance only through July 14.
